A Grim Tale: Ashputtle, the original Cinderella

Many of the stories and fairy tales we look to for romance advice and hopes that the frog outside might actually be a prince are inspired by much older parables and fables from centuries long ago! There are thousands of cultures and stories to draw from, and dark parables of the brothers Jacob Ludwig Karl Grimm Wilhelm Carl Grimm are some of the most recognizable in American art and media today, especially due to Walt Disney’s animated retellings of classic stories. “Cinderella” is one of only a few Grimm retellings that are so beloved that they keep being reimagined over and over today. "Ashputtle", the German predecessor to Disney's "Cinderella" does not appeal to the same young audience with its gritty symbolism, but upon reading, the Grimm tale’s similar morals draw a clear tie between it and its modern retelling. While both tales aim to emphasize the importance of remaining gracious and kind in the face of adversity, one takes a much darker and clearer pat

Image from www.amazon.com What if our universe was part of a much larger multiverse? What if you had a chance to travel through that multiverse? Sal and Gabi Fix the Universe explores such a world.   Sal and Gabi Fix the Universe is written by Carlos Hernandez and is the sequel to Sal and Gabi Break the Universe . The author chose this setting because he lived three hours away as a child and knew it well. Sal has the ability to travel, pull objects from and view other realities known as the multiverse. The book begins with Sal starting his quantum physicist father's Rembrantion machine to repair the universe and fix holes that were caused by Sal in the first book. Using the machine, Sal begins correctly closing the holes in the multiverse. Suddenly, Sal finds a Gabi from another

Onward: The Latest Family Friendly Hit!

Image via www.imdb.com Onward is an amazing fantasy adventure film with the right balance of action and emotion that I really enjoyed seeing as a standalone film. Join me on this quest to uncover what I think about one of Disney-Pixar’s latest movies! Brothers Ian and Barley Lightfoot quarrel and bond during a quest to bring their late dad back by sunset. Tom Holland lends his voice to Ian, the younger brother to Chris Pratt’s Barley. Ian’s timid nature, along with his wimpy stature, deeply contrast Barley’s intense personality and imposing form, differences that are brought out all too clear in the later half of the movie. Image via www.imdb.com That aside, I must say that I like the way the world is set up as a civilization that abandoned the hard-to-learn magic in favor of the ease of technology. Through this, the different creatures have lost touch with their ancestors and what made them unique. Unicorns aren’t majestic as you might think, but instead they act like the fluffy trash
